Jan. 16, 2016 -- It was another record-setting year for the Guns vs. Hoses charity hockey game to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA)! Before a standing-room-only crowd of raucous Roanoke hockey fans at the Berglund Center, the Guns delivered a convincing 6-1 victory over the Hoses.

The real winners, as we all know, are those affected by muscular dystrophy as this year’s game raised $44,000 to benefit the MDA, bringing our 13-year total to $250,000 – a quarter of a million dollars!

Each year this game seems to get bigger and better. It truly has become an institution in the Roanoke Valley thanks to all the fans who come to the game, our sponsors who proudly support the game, the dedicated volunteers who put the game on, and of course the players who play their hearts out each and every year.

As many of you know, Roanoke is getting professional hockey back! The Rail Yard Dawgs haven’t played a single game and already are supporting our event. They donated a percentage of their season ticket sales to the MDA!

On behalf of the MDA, organizers, volunteers, coaches, and players, we offer our deepest gratitude and appreciation to all those who attended the game, sponsored it, or made a donation.
